30 Jan Quality Foods hits another major food diversion milestone: 3 million meals donated!
Quality Foods stores have collectively donated the equivalent of 3 million meals to people in communities across Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast! FoodMesh began working with Quality Foods in May 2022 to help divert unsalable food to the communities they serve.
Quality Foods team members carefully set aside surplus food that can’t be sold ensuring it can still be put to good use. Through FoodMesh’s logistics and charity network, this food is collected and redistributed to local hunger-relief organizations, who then provide it directly to individuals and families who need it most.
By choosing donation over disposal, Quality Foods has made a measurable impact. Since partnering with FoodMesh, its stores have:
🍎 kept 2,173,833 kg of surplus food out of landfill
🌍 prevented 5,863,416 kg of CO₂e emissions from entering the atmosphere
🥣 donated the equivalent of 3,017,172 meals
Reaching the milestone of 3 million meals donated is a powerful reflection of Quality Foods’ ongoing commitment to community care and environmental responsibility. This achievement would not be possible without the dedication of Quality Foods store teams and the vital work of the charitable organizations who ensure this food reaches those who need it.
Congratulations to everyone at Quality Foods on this incredible milestone—and thank you for helping give good food a second chance!
