23 Apr Fresh St. Market hits milestone of 2 million meals donated!
Since FoodMesh and Fresh St. Market joined forces to give food a second chance back in April 2020, its stores have collectively donated the equivalent of 2 million meals to people in our communities.
Every day, Fresh St. Market staff carefully collect the food the stores are unable to sell, either because it is close to its peak freshness date, or because of aesthetic imperfections, and leave it ready to be collected by a network of hunger-relief organizations located across the province. These organizations then redistribute it to the people in our communities who need it most.
In donating this food to these charities, Fresh St. Market has:
kept 1,154,376 KG of unsalable food out of waste streams
saved 2,970,913 KG of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere
